We all have used Canva for one reason or another; however, an outage has recently been reported on Canva. The outage has been confirmed by the official page of Canva as well, stating ‘Unresolved incident: Unable to access Canva due to Timeout Errors’ as of May 26, 2025.

DownForEveryone and EntireWeb have also released their headlines stating the Canva issue online. Users worldwide, including South Africa, the US, the Philippines, Indonesia, and more, have reported an error while trying to access Canva.

Community and User Reports

Users have shared many issues while connecting and failures during the break. On DownDetector-like sites, it has been stated to be “Not reachable” or face timeout errors.

On social networks and boards, users talk about normal server problems. For instance, one Reddit user mentioned they were facing a “504 Gateway Timeout” when trying to load a design.

Others said they got sent to the Canva status page or spotted blank screens. Some users even said that some features were down and inaccessible.

These mixed reports from different regions (US, India, Europe, etc.) hint at a wide base problem instead of a local network issue.

  • Timeout and Gateway Errors: Several users encountered 504/502 errors while trying to access Canva.
  • Feature Failures: Several users have complained that many features, such as the audio library, were unavailable.
  • Global Scope: Users from around the world, including South Africa, Indonesia, the US, the UK, and more, have experienced a global service issue while attempting to access Canva.

Outages and Their Chronology

There have been outages with Canva in the past, with similar user reports and response patterns. For instance,

  • November 12, 2024: A global outage led to the consistent 504 Gateway errors. Downdetector reported almost 1,000 complaints at the peak. Users shared memes and grievances on social media while the Canva page was blank. Canva’s team acknowledged the problem on X (Twitter) and, roughly after an hour, proclaimed, “We’re back up and running” after the service was restored.
  • November 2024 (India): Instantly, the same mid-November incident had a striking effect on India. An Economic Times article said that numerous Indian users were unable to edit or download their designs. Canva had assured them over social media, claiming, “We’re working as quickly as we can to get things back up and running.”
  • May 3, 2025: Community monitors recorded a shorter outage of roughly 3 hours. In fact, DownForEveryone noted that the outage lasted around three hours before resolution.

This pattern is evident when Canva goes down, services like Downdetector have users reporting issues, users start to complain on social media, and eventually, the issue is resolved.

Competitor Outage Feedback

Adobe Express (Spark): Adobe updates a status page and stays active on social media during outages. The Adobe Express crew tweeted updates during the big AWS meltdown in November 2020. They said AWS was responsible and shared that they were working with Amazon to fix things. Their engineering blog and status site also tracks problems with Creative Cloud or Express.

Figma: Figma uses a live status page at status.figma.com and a community forum for updates. During past glitches, Figma support tweeted once things were back to normal. They sometimes posted statuses in Slack or the forum to give teams a heads-up and details on their status.

VistaCreate (Crello): VistaCreate doesn’t highlight any status dashboard. Instead, people look to the Help Center or FAQ when something’s off. If a problem hits, the company usually turns to Facebook, Twitter, or its blog to post updates. They update help articles but skip the dedicated status page.

Conclusion

To sum up, all these design platforms ensure that updates and alerts are sent to their users during downtime. Adobe Express and Figma have official status pages and communicate live social media updates. VistaCreate is less formal, although there are customer support channels. Either way, the users of any one of these tools ordinarily look at the official status page, then at DownDetector, and then at social media to get a sense of whether the issue is widely manifesting itself.

Since Canva is down today, they have been working relentlessly to solve the error and have been simultaneously keeping their users updated.
