‘The Boys’ has just been confirmed for a season 05 by Amazon Prime, and the fans are going crazy for it. The show just wrapped up its 04th season and has already announced its 05th and final season!
The impeccable blend of romance, thriller, action, and, of course, suspense is going to be back on our screens. However, the release date, the cast, and other essential aspects of the fifth season have not been announced yet. Luckily, we might have an idea about that.
The Boys Season 05 Release Date Window
Even though Amazon Prime Video has not announced a release date for this show, it’s known that season 05 is halfway through shooting. Eric Kripke posted on X (Twitter) on March 29 2025 and told fans about the updates regarding season 05. He also updated the fans about the series prequel known as Vought Rising, to be released soon.
We’ve also seen Kripke often posting behind the scenes on his X account with the cast all dressed up in their costumes.
With all the information that we have, we can confirm that season 05 will be released on Amazon Prime somewhere in 2026.
The lead star of the show, Karl Urban, also posted a picture of himself behind the wheel on February 22, 2025, to update his fans.

On the other hand, Jack Quaid, who plays the iconic character of Hughie on the show, posted a picture of himself covered in blood with a caption of ‘Going Great’ during the shooting of season 05.

There are many other posts on social media that point towards the season being released somewhere in the summer of 2026.
The First Episode
It is known that the season will have 08 episodes. However, in a post on X (Twitter), Kripke posted the cover sheet of episode 01 of the season. It was named ‘Fifteen Inches of Sheer Dynamite.’ The episode was written by Paul Grellong, the executive producer on the show since season 3, and was directed by Phil Sgriccia.
However, just because the script of episode 01 is ready doesn’t mean it’s ALL done. In an interview with Forbes, Kripke revealed that “they’re (the season 05 scripts) not all written, by the way,” which means that the entire script of the final season is not yet ready!
However, if you think it’s laziness – you’re wrong! Kripke also mentioned, “The scripts always transforming a little bit, based on what’s happening in the world.” So, it’s not about the procrastination of the team; it’s about making it relatable to the fans!

Season 04 RECAP
A lot has happened in season 04 of The Boys, but let’s not get into the details. Since it’s been long – here are some of the key points to remind you of what happened in season 04.
The season starts with The Boys being totally backed by the CIA and President Robert, who gives them their first mission to assassinate the President’s running mate and a secret super, Victoria Neuman. The attempt to kill Neuman ends in a disaster… obviously, it also shows that Neuman’s daughter Zoe is a monstrous super with deadly tentacles.
On the other hand, assassinating Neuman was a good idea since Sister Sage, Homelander, and a cabal of politicians were planning to take over the US Government, which can only happen once Neuman is out of the picture. This leads to the introduction of a new super known as Firecracker, who plans to destroy Starlight because of a personal vendetta they had in their childhood.
While the world is going crazy, Butcher has been going through some serious issues. With all the compound V going through his veins, he don’tdoesn’t really have much time left to live. Ah, a cherry on top, he starts hallucinating and starts seeing a former colleague, Joe Kessler, who has been dead for a while now.
With all the chaos going around, the boys found a secret ingredient that might be the key to kill the supes. And even with all the complications, Frenchie managed to turn that ingredient into a weapon to kill the supes.
Probably the best episode of the show comes ahead to when Starlight is kidnapped, and a shapeshifter takes her place. The shapeshifter proposes to Hughie, to which he says yes, after which the shapeshifter had planned to kill the President. We all were relieved to see Starlight come back and save the day by killing the shapeshifter.
The season ended with Neuman, the boys, Zoe, and a few more in a room where Butcher – who was, at that time, a deadly but temporary supe as well, ripped Neuman into half in front of her daughter and fled the scene to kill as many supes as possible in the little life that he had left.
To sum it up, Neuman is dead, Butcher is on the loose, The Boys are on the run from the Homelander, and Homelander has been given access to the entire US Government now that Neuman is dead.
We really cannot wait to see what happens in the final season of the show.

What To Expect From Season 05 – The Boys
There are a few things already expected from the fifth season. However, in an interview with LadBible, Eric Kripke said, “As far as we’re concerned, it’s [season 5] our show’s version of the apocalypse.” which means that the show might just be the end of the world for them. He further says, “Homelander gets everything he has wanted from the beginning, which is to completely remake the United States in his image, and according to his whims.” so we know that it’s not GOOD. There are certain leaked reddits and tweets to which Eric Kripke confirmed that the Homelander will definitely take over the United States.
However, we also know that The Boys will REALLY need to come together to save the world this time. However, as we know that most of the team other than Starlight has been imprisoned, it’s a mystery how they’ll find in this season. On the other hand, Kripke said in an interview that Hughie will “solidly learn what it means to be human,” but Butcher will “completely commit to being a monster.”
Kripke also told the Deadline that there are going to be a lot of deaths in this season. Who’ll live and who’ll die will stay a mystery for us till we actually watch the season! Not to forget that Soldier Boy, as we know from the cast of the show, will be back with a high desperation of revenge this time!
